Human Subject Protection Scientist at Ft Detrick, MD

General Dynamics Information Technology seeks Human Subject Protection scientists to support clinical research performed under the U S Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC). They will specifically function to provide support for: (1) Proposal and Protocol Review; (2) Administrative Support; (3) Human Subjects Protection Policies and Procedures Development and Application to Medical Research; (4) Education; and (5) Quality Assurance. The HSP scientists will work on Ft. Detrick as members of a team with military, government civil service and contract employees.


Education/Equivalent

. Training Required Bachelor's Degree in science, nursing, health sciences, or a related discipline.


Experience

. 2-4 years direct experience in the field of human subjects protection; bachelor's degree with four years specialized experience in the field of human subjects protection or master's degree


Unique/Additional Requirements

. Knowledge of federal regulations governing the participation of human subjects in research, including the Common Rule and FDA regulations.

. Working knowledge of scientific research concepts and terminology to properly review research proposals and protocols; experience in medical research and development, proposal preparation, research execution is a plus.

. Working knowledge of ethical principles related to participation of humans in research (essential).

. Must have a working knowledge of Federal regulations governing the protection of human research subjects; additionally, review checklists and individual training and guidance will be provided to become expert at applying DOD, Army and USAMRMC regulations, policies and guidelines.

. Demonstrated ability to use all components of Microsoft Office and to write clear, precise, detailed, comprehensive and grammatically correct memos and technical reports (absolute requirement).

. Ability to become proficient in the use of the Oracle-based protocol information management system.

. Excellent organizational skills, professional conduct and businesslike manner, meticulous attention to detail, committed to helping build and maintain the teamwork needed to provide world-class service.
