IRB Manager - Tampa, FL

The IRB Manager plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with University Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and IRB policies and procedures related to research involving human subjects. The IRB Manager is responsible for oversight, administration and coordination of IRB policies, procedures and activities related to the protection of the safety, rights and welfare of human research subjects, and for ensuring institutional compliance with governmental regulations related to human subjects research. Expert knowledge and experience with the IRB process, including an appreciation of the ethical implications of clinical investigation and an intimate understanding of federal and state regulations pertaining to human research is required. The IRB Manager will supervise IRB professional and administrative staff. This individual reports to the Director of the Division of Research Integrity & Compliance.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in research administration, the conduct of research or other related research compliance/human subject protection experience; or a Master's degree in a biomedical or social behavioral field and two years of experience in research administration, the conduct of research or other related research compliance/human subject protection experience. Progressively responsible experience involving safety or research compliance may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education. Master's Degree in health related field or other discipline and five years of experience in research administration. Ability to advise and counsel on matters of general research compliance and ethical human participant research practices. Previous managerial/supervisory experience with demonstrated success in leading and managing people is a must. Strong leadership and team building skills and experience working collaboratively to motivate others are also essential. High level of experience and comfort level working independently with senior leadership, faculty, staff, students, medical professionals and external agencies in complex organizations. Experience in a university or research organization setting is preferred. Proficient with computer programs. Experience in designing, operating and implementing electronic IRB applications including but not limited to the Click Commerce IRB module.

Certified IRB Professional (CIP) or CIM (Certified IRB Manager) certificate preferred or required upon meeting eligibility criteria.

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000
