IRB/IACUC Specialist
This position is a part-time and scheduled to work approximately 20 hours per week.
Coordinate Chapman University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) activities to ensure efficient and effective research compliance. Provide assistance in analyzing protocols and records to ensure completeness and compliance with appropriate regulations, IRB/IACUC guidelines and institutional policies. Provide administrative and committee support to the IRB/IACUC Chairs and committees. Assess educational needs of the constituency (faculty, staff and student researchers) and committee members and provide ongoing education and training.
Bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to human and animal subjects use in research, with experience in interpreting guidelines, policies and federal/state guidelines/regulations. Demonstrated flexibility, human relations, time management and effective written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with investigators while pursuing responses necessary for the approval of research protocols. Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality. Experience with behavioral and social sciences human research desired along with experience in research and/or regulatory environment. Prefer CIP Certification.
