Human Research Protection Program Director
The Michigan State University Human Research Protection Program invites applications for the position of HRPP Director.

POSITION SUMMARY
• Directs and oversees the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), including the Institutional Review Board (IRB) office and the human research liaison program (post approval monitoring, clinical research compliance);
• Directs compliance related activities for clinical research and clinical investigations;
• Oversees accreditation efforts of the HRPP;
• Ensure MSU's compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements related to human research protection;
• Represents the HRPP and maintains communications with external institutions engaged in human research, external IRBs, administrators, and others as needed;
• Represents the HRPP and maintains communications with internal stakeholders, such as faculty, staff, students, administrators, and others as needed;
• Develops university-wide plans for education or corrective action as needed;
• Coordinates the execution of reliance agreements with external institutions engaged in research;
• Represents the HRPP in discussions and education with other University units and assists in the integration of the HRPP with such units;
• Provides leadership and coordination for the HRPP in the administration, support, monitoring, and assessment of the program;
• Monitors for changes in federal regulations and state laws related to human research protection and responds as appropriate;
• Maintains familiarity with related research administration areas (e.g. conflict of interest, data management requirements) and communicates with others related to these areas on behalf of the HRPP.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Eight or more years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in human subject research protection;
• Extensive knowledge and experience working with federal regulations related to human research protection;
• Extensive knowledge and experience with U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations for clinical investigations.
