The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the Human Research Administrator.
ROLE of the POSITION
The successful candidate will join the Office of Research Integrity and be part of the team of professionals that manages the human research review processes for the division to ensure overall compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies within the framework of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR). The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for: using a high degree of independent judgment based on expert knowledge of regulatory statutes to evaluate human research protocols, providing advice to researchers, communicating Internal Review Board (IRB) requests through written correspondence, supporting IRB meetings, and recordkeeping using the existing database. In addition, this position regularly participates in training activities and is assigned special projects to enhance the efficiency and operation of the human subjects review process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years relevant professional experience in a research environment supporting an IRB function is required. Must have demonstrated knowledge, expertise, and technical competence in human research. Must have strong analytical communication and organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate compliance requirements. Must have ability to obtain Certified IRB Professional (CIP) within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified IRB Professional (CIP) at time of application; an advanced degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university; 3-5 years relevant professional experience that includes making exemption determinations for IRB protocols and other responsibilities in IRB administration that show a high level of competence.
Desired Characteristics: Ability to analyze and interpret federal, state, and university regulations, policies and procedures; ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships among diverse groups of administrators, faculty, and staff who may have varying degrees of knowledge about compliance regulations and policies; ability to work independently and meet deadlines; ability to communicate effectively; ability to analyze situations and data trends and apply to job responsibilities.
