Research Subject Advocate

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, currently has a full-time opening for a Research Subject Advocate to serve as the voice of the research participant to investigators and the institution.

Functions include providing expertise and training to investigators in formulating data and safety monitoring plans, participating as content expert and instructor for various training programs, and working closely with the CTSA and Office of Research Education to develop and deliver new or existing programs for degree, diploma, certificate, or workplace learning. Other responsibilities include participating in institutional committees or special projects, meeting directly with participants in the Research Patient Information Unit, and serving as the primary liaison between the CTSA Ethics Resource and the Human Subjects Protection Program, including the IRB.

The candidate we seek has a master's degree in nursing, public health policy, bioethics, pharmacy, or related field and at least five years' extensive experience in the areas of patient care, health education, clinical research, research ethics, and regulatory affairs. Other qualifications include self-direction and self-motivation, ability to exercise sound judgment, strong diplomacy and communication skills, and high standards of personal integrity and ethics.
