The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research, part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, located on the north shore of Long Island, New York is looking for an IRB Manager.
IRB Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: Manages and supports the staff and activities relative to the effective administration and function of the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Reports to the Assistant Director, IRB.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Works with the Asst. Director in reviewing proposed research for compliance with federal, state and local regulations; determines category of review and assess risk; evaluates the need for further clinical or professional review of research.
2. Provides support to investigators by assuring the accuracy of submissions and modifications; responds to investigators regarding deficiencies, inconsistencies or concerns.
3. Monitors continuing review of research for compliance. Identifies and reports items of concern for further action.
4. Assists in facilitating and recording IRB meetings and review activities
5. Oversees and guides investigators in developing the IRB submissions for Human Subject research projects.
6. Performs preliminary administrative review of items referred to IRB and communicates deficiencies or questions to investigators
7. Assists in preparation of reports and correspondence related to IRB activities.
8. Serves as liaison between investigators and IRB staff regarding the IRB policies or IRB activities.
9. Oversees maintenance of accurate records, including database management.
10. Provides assistance in the performance of internal quality improvement activities.
11. Performs related duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, required. Certified IRB Professional (CIP,) preferred, minimum three (3) years experience in a research administration environment.
