POSITION SUMMARY: Manages the operations of the Human Research Protections Office within the Health Sciences Center ’s Office of Research. This senior level manager position provides advanced professional/technical leadership, consultation, and expertise within the program's area of focus, as well as day-to-day administrative and functional management of the program. This position also provides support to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in planning and implementing education and training programs to guide faculty, staff, and administration in the conduct of biomedical research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Biomedical Science, or closely related field with at least 5 years of work experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
• Direct management experience in IRB Administration
• Expertise in Federal, State, and FDA regulations and guidelines for the conduct of human subjects research
• Demonstrated skills in program planning, development, implementation, and leadership.
• Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
• Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs.
• Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques.
