Western Institutional Review Board is recruiting two full-time Expedited Reviewer’s. They will performs all duties of a regular Board member and Expedited Review Board member. Reviews submitted requests for changes in research by performing the following duties personally. Provides Board member judgment when required as part of the Operations processes. Interprets and applies the Federal Regulations, Board Standard Practice Instructions [SPI] and Guidelines in a manner to assure that WIRB is in full compliance with all applicable regulations.
Determines whether request for changes in research meets regulatory guidance in order to be considered expeditable . Conducts appropriate research if needed to make this determination.
Has authority to approve expeditable review requests, as submitted or as modified using regulatory guidance and knowledge of the preferred Board approach and Board policy.
Determines when changes in research are not appropriate for expedited review and refers these to a convened Board for review. Provides necessary background information to the Board to assist their review. Provides a clear and concise explanation of the issues and includes a personal recommendation for Board action.
Reviews non-expeditable changes in research before the review request is sent to a convened Board meeting. Provides necessary information for the review, and makes recommendations as appropriate. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in team are required. Prior experience in medical field, clinical research and/or IRB a plus, but not a requirement. Training is provided.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, a B.S. or B.A. from a four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. This combination will provide at a minimum, a basic understanding of medical terminology, diseases and their causes, and standard treatments for the more common diseases.
