IRB Panel Review Coordinator, University of Colorado at Boulder

The IRB Panel Review Coordinator coordinates the work of the IRB panels, ensuring compliance with policies and rules pertaining to human research protections. The IRB is the federally mandated regulatory compliance oversight committee for research protocols involving human participants. The IRB Panel Review Coordinator reports to the IRB Program Manager.


Responsibilities:

Coordinates work of the IRB Panels (40%): Establishes schedules, agendas, and materials for meetings; Supervises the recording of detailed minutes of panel meetings, in conformance with regulatory agency standards; Serves as Liaison with investigators regarding human research protection issues (25%): Advises investigators regarding federal and university policies pertaining to human research; Requests additional information and communicates decisions regarding human research applications; Receives and processes reports of unanticipated problems and adverse events; Conducts independent reviews of research applications (30%): Reviews biomedical expedited applications with reference to federal and university guidelines and renders decision of either approved or modifications required; Reviews and approves modifications to approved projects, as permitted by regulations; Approval authority for social/behavioral research applications that have received preliminary “modifications required” determination by IRB panels, adhering to federal rules and regulations; Reviews exempt applications, as needed; and Other IRB Duties (5%):
Provides backup for other IRB Coordinator positions, as needed; In conjunction with Quality Assurance Coordinator, maintains forms and SOPs as needed; Conducts other human research protection program responsibilities as needed in order to address compliance issues


Required Qualifications: Specialized knowledge of regulations concerning human research protections; Bachelor’s degree in a related research field; Previous IRB-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field; Experience in working with either behavioral or biomedical research; IRB Professional Certification

Salary Range $50,000-$56,000, commensurate with experience
