Under the direction of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administrator, this newly created contract position is responsible for analytical and administrative support of MIRB3. The Analyst-NPI Research works independently to analyze and apply federal and State regulations, University policies, and ethical principles governing human subjects research to all research protocols submitted to the IRB. Share responsibility with the Administrator and IRB Coordinator for efficient management of the IRB and for supervision of the IRB Specialist and student assistants. Conduct a preliminary review of new protocol submissions, of all modifications to the protocols, and of investigators' responses to the Committee's requests. Provide regulatory, ethical and administrative guidance to the Committee members and the investigators, and ensures efficient implementation of all IRB policies and procedures. Compose a large volume of in-depth analytical correspondence based on the Committee's deliberations, records meeting minutes, and issues approval notices based on conditions imposed by the Committee. Share responsibility for the education of investigators and research staff as required by IRBs.

Desired Qualifications:

Demonstrated working knowledge of DHHS, OHRP, and FDA regulations as well as State law and University policy regarding human subjects research.

Ability to analyze and apply federal and state regulations, University policies and ethical principles related to the participation of human subjects in research.

Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to independently compose highly technical and comprehensive correspondence to investigators, and to produce accurate Committee meeting minutes describing complicated discussion.
