 Human Subjects Review Coordinator -- Seattle, WA

Human Subjects Review Coordinator, for Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the VA Medical Center - Duties include but are not limited to: interpret and apply Federal and State laws and regulations and institutional policies and guidelines relevant to the use of HUMAN SUBJECTS in research; independently review and process some renewal applications; communicate with researchers to request additional information and revisions; review and evaluate responses to IRB concerns; independently review and approve administrative and procedural modifications; (recruitment materials, consent form revisions, change in investigators, change in funding); advise faculty, staff, and students in the preparation of applications for research proposals involving HUMAN SUBJECTS and consent documents; facilitate HUMAN SUBJECTS Review Committee meetings; may act in the absence of the HUMAN SUBJECTS Review Committee Administrator.

Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree AND two years applicable work experience OR equivalent education/experience. This job requires a person who can learn the program function, who is skilled in interpersonal relationships and oral and written communication, and who is able to deal with high volumes and rigid deadlines. Familiarity with research ethics and methodologies and ability to conduct independent literature research are required. Computer literacy is a necessary skill, including competence with Outlook (or Outlook Express), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and a standard web browser.

Desired: Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in performing the job tasks described above, who have a background in biological sciences, who have knowledge of human subjects regulations and procedures, and who have earned IRB professional certification (CIP).

This position will be hired through Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research.
