Alion Science and Technology is recruiting one full-time Oversight and Monitoring Coordinator to support the Department of the Navy Human Research Protection Program (DON HRPP). The Surgeon General (SG) of the Navy is the sole authority for the execution and oversight for all of the entire Department of the Navy's research with human subjects. The DON HRPP, under its Director, is responsible for ensuring that DON-sponsored research involving human subjects complies with applicable federal regulations, DOD directives, and DON instructions and policies at over 150 Navy stateside and overseas locations and in the civilian sector and comprising over 2,000 research protocols.
The Oversight and Monitoring Coordinator's key responsibilities, as a member of the DON HRPP team, include:
- Conducting headquarters-level post-approval review of locally-approved research protocol as part of the continuing quality improvement program, recommending corrective actions, and preparing reports;
- Conducting headquarters-level post-approval review of IRB meeting minutes as part of continuing quality improvement program, recommending corrective actions, and preparing reports;
- Participating in site visits to evaluate human research protection programs at Navy medical treatment facilities, research and development (R&D) laboratories, training and operational commands;
- Reviewing, appropriate, reports of allegations of non-compliance, research misconduct, or complaints, and providing recommendations;
- Assisting with reviewing assurances and agreement for Navy-supported research; and
- Contributing to policy development.
Experience in HRPPs and IRB administration is required. Experience with Navy or Department of Defense (DoD)is desirable.
The DON HRPP is located in Washington, DC.
